Group Tour Policies
By submitting this Group Tour Request form, I confirm that I have read and understand the following Group Tour Policies:
Groups Eligible to Visit
Group tours are for high school students (grades 9-12) only and must include a minimum of 10 students and a maximum of 50 students. Groups of 9 or fewer should register students individually for a daily Campus Tour and Information Session at
www.sacredheart.edu/visitplanner
.
Preparing for the Visit
Prior to your visit to campus, a mailing will be sent to the school/organization addressed to the primary contact indicated on the request form. The mailing will include a visit confirmation and a campus map (1 for every student attending the tour.) Please ensure that each student arrives on campus with a completed inquiry card which will be collected by our staff. This will ensure that your visit stays on schedule.
Timely Arrival
Group tours are only offered on specific dates and times in order to accommodate larger groups within our daily campus visit schedule. Last-minute or special requests cannot be accommodated. Registration for group tours is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be sure to arrive on time for your visit, and if necessary, please contact our office at
203-257-8087
if your group is running late.
Cancellations
We request that any cancellations to group tours are made at least 48 hours in advance by contacting our office at
203-257-8087
.
Lunches
If your group would like to have lunch on campus during your visit, please contact the SHU Dining Office at 203-365-4760. Lunches are not arranged by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The cost of the lunch will be the responsibility of the visiting school/organization.
Chaperones
Sacred Heart requires one chaperone for every ten students attending a group tour.
Inclement Weather Information
Tours are held rain or shine, and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions does not provide rain gear or umbrellas. In winter months, Sacred Heart University may be closed or have a delayed start. If the University is closed, all visits for that day are canceled. If the University is on a delayed start, your group tour start time may be impacted. A member of our staff will reach out in these instances to confirm the status of your visit and reschedule as needed.
Conduct
Our goal is for all of our group tour visitors to have an engaging and positive experience during their time on campus. It is expected that all visiting students are respectful to SHU staff, faculty and students while visiting. We encourage you and your students to explore our website in advance and to ask questions during the tour.
Cell Phone Use
While we encourage students to take pictures of the campus and our facilities, we do ask that students are not on their cell phones in other capacities during the tour, i.e., using apps such as Snapchat, texting or taking pictures with individuals from Sacred Heart. This can be distracting and/or disrespectful to the student ambassador, who is working hard to provide a thorough and engaging experience. Once the tour is completed, we will be more than happy to take a group photo.
